Between 2021 and 2022, HTA was commissioned by FM Conway and AECOM to execute the largest Post-Tensioned Special Inspection (PTSI) contract ever undertaken in the UK. The project focused on the critical CS465 structure of the A40 West Way, requiring an exhaustive structural integrity audit to ensure the continued safety of this major London arterial route.
The sheer scale and location of the A40 presented monumental logistical hurdles. The investigation required simultaneous coordination across three distinct high-risk environments: live carriageways, internal confined spaces within the structure, and areas above active rail lines. Securing and managing major rail possessions and road closures while operating multiple teams with varying access requirements demanded a sophisticated level of site management and safety protocol.
